Mycelium: a network of visuals, sound, and growth
Mycelium is a collaborative multimedia project developed in a Core Studio class, drawing inspiration from the hidden, interconnected world of fungal networks. At its core, the project explores the idea of connection—between people, forms of media, and the natural world.
The project includes a poster series that visually maps out various mushroom species, a set of hand-crafted cassette tapes featuring a collaborative mixtape, and custom packaging adorned with whimsical mushroom sculptures. Each tape merges analog warmth with experimental design, turning sound into a vessel for storytelling.
From the bold typographic system and poster layout to the tactile mushroom caps atop each cassette, Mycelium celebrates the intersection of the organic and the designed. It’s a living system translated into print, form, and audio—a metaphor for how creativity spreads underground, in quiet yet powerful ways.
