Stillness in Departure:

This collaborative piece, created for a multi-studio class, explores the emotional aftermath of loss and the silence it leaves behind. Combining 3D printing with laser-engraved wooden blocks, the project invites viewers to engage with a series of intimate, typographic reflections on grief, longing, and unresolved farewells.

Each engraved message can be slotted into a vibrant red display frame—reminiscent of a vintage TV or memory box—transforming the act of viewing into one of quiet remembrance. The modular design allows these messages to be rearranged, mirroring how we replay memories and emotions in different sequences over time.

Through tactile materiality and typographic experimentation, Stillness in Departure captures how the most painful goodbyes often linger not in noise, but in frozen moments—etched into us like wood, and revisited in silence.
