Framed By Shadows
“Framed by Shadows” is a photographic accordion book capturing a visual journey through Richmond, VA. Over the course of several walks, I photographed architectural fragments, shadows, and repeating forms—paying close attention to how urban geometry interacts with light.
The final piece features 30 seamlessly connected images, stitched together into a continuous visual rhythm. The structure of the accordion book mirrors the unfolding nature of a walk—bending, pausing, and revealing.
This work reflects on how unnoticed spaces and shapes in the city can become cohesive and poetic when reframed through intentional observation. It was exhibited in the VCU School of the Arts Graphic Design sophomore exhibition as a meditation on form, light, and the overlooked patterns of the everyday.
